Winter Solstice: Creative Intention Maps for the New Year Workshop

December 21, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

| $50

What better time to contemplate the direction of our creative life for the new year than on the Winter Solstice? While it is the “darkest” day, it heralds the return to light and rebirth. All life springs from the fertile void of darkness, and the season of winter incubates the seeds that manifest in the spring.

Through guided meditation, ritual, imagination, and hands-on map making, we will harness the energy of the cosmos to illuminate our intentions. Participants will create a pop-out map, that can be further embellished at home.

This class is for creators, and would-be creators in all disciplines, or for those who simply want to create a more hands-on expression of their new-year intentions.

For those able to sit on the floor, please bring a yoga mat, or a small blanket.

About the instructor:

Kathryn Van Aernum has a 30-year career in the advertising, marketing and arts industries. She has received accolades and awards for both fine and applied arts. She intimately knows the challenges of claiming the right to a creative life, and this fuels her mission and commitment to liberate the creative spirit in others.

Her creativity workshops utilize traditional art media and mindfulness in the cultivation of what she calls, “creative cross-training.” to inspire her students.

Her photography has appeared in juried competitions, and group and solo exhibits in Key West, FL; Boulder, CO; Fort Collins, CO; Ann Arbor, MI; and Columbia, Spartanburg and Lake City, SC. and is in many private collections throughout the US.

Ms. Van Aernum holds a BA in Visual Arts from Naropa University, the premier educational institution to combine mindfulness and contemplative practice with academic rigor.
