Improvisational dance is about exploring and creating spontaneous, authentic, creative movement. Breaking free of traditional dance technique, improvisation allows you to find new ways to move, break out of habits, step past limitations, and often access a deeper connection between movement and internal feeling. Many find it meditative, relaxing, stress-relieving, energizing, or simply an excellent way to be playful and creative through freedom of movement.
In this workshop we will consider the bigger picture of composition and how dancers interact in a space to create an improvised piece with structure and cohesiveness. We will also begin exploring improvisation in relation to specific spaces and environments by dancing in various locations in Tapp’s. Weather permitting, we may also play with some outside locations.
Class is $15
